Judge Profile – Steve Somermeyer

Steve grew up with his father’s wine on the dinner table and he joined a number of wine enthusiast groups right out of college which led to serving as a wine judge over 40 years ago. Upon early corporate retirement 14 years ago he became a commercial wine maker at Chateau Thomas Winery in Indiana which continues today. Three years ago Steve and his wife moved to the Indiana countryside and planted a vineyard from which they are looking forward to their first grape crop. He continues to judge 4-6 wine competitions a year and always learns something at each competition.
